The Meteorological Department said yesterday evening that mild to moderate heat waves are passing over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. It will continue today and Tuesday. Yesterday it was 39.6 degrees in Rangamati, 39.5 degrees in Ishwardi in Pabna, 39.4 degrees in Sitakunda in Chittagong, 39.4 degrees in Bandarban, 39.4 degrees in Rajshahi, 39 degrees in Mongla, 39 degrees in Kumarkhali in Kushtia and 39 degrees Celsius in Patuakhali. Except few regions like Sylhet, Netrakona, heat wave is going on all over the country. The maximum temperature in Dhaka yesterday was 37.8 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik Prothom-aloK said, the country will have a heat wave throughout the rest of April. But the temperature can fluctuate somewhere. The temperature is expected to rise up to 42 degree Celsius in this month.

According to the Meteorological Department, if the maximum temperature is 36 to 37.9 degrees Celsius, it is a mild heat wave, 38 to 39.9 degrees Celsius is a moderate heat wave, 40 to 41.9 degrees Celsius is an intense heat wave and 42 degrees Celsius or more is an extreme heat wave.
