An Awami League leader snatched the boom from the hand of the journalist in Tangail's Sakhipur upazila and smashed the journalist's head. The incident took place on the ground floor of Monir Uddin Complex on Sakhipur Upazila Road at around 10:30 am on Monday. Local people rescued the journalist in a bloody state and admitted him to the Upazila Health Complex.
The name of the injured journalist is Saiful Islam. He is working as Sakhipur upazila representative of Asian Television and Daily Times Alo Patrika. Accused Monir Uddin is a member of Upazila Awami League. He is also a brave freedom fighter.
Sakhipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Shahinur Rahman told Prothom Alo around 3:30 p.m. that journalist's wife Rita Akhter filed a written complaint at the police station at around 3:00 p.m. Police called Awami League leader Bir Muktijoddha Monir to the police station for questioning. He is said to be detained at the police station.
