Golam Murtaza, president of Bangladesh Meat Traders Association, told Prothom Alo that the government can take steps to import beef considering the current price of beef. It will be possible to reduce the price of beef in the country's market. There are many sensitive issues in direct import of meat, which must be taken into account, otherwise there may be another disturbance in the market. He expects the government to take effective steps to control the market.

However, Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association (BDFA) has objected to the import of beef or meat. This organization of farmers says that there is no shortage of cows in the country. The same thing is known from the official data. In that case, if the issue of import is centered on the price of cattle, then the government can think of an alternative to protect the local industry.

General Secretary of BDFA Shah Imran told Prothom Alo that the price of beef has increased three times in the last three years in the country's market due to the increased price of the dollar and the pressure of inflation. But there is no effective action from the government in this regard. Lowering food prices will lower production costs, naturally reducing meat prices. There is sufficient production of cattle in the country. So the protection of local industry should be thought first about such a decision. A lot of institutional investment has come here. The government should think how to make this industry more sustainable.
