Like every year, new notes of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 taka are released in the market ahead of Eid. A bundle of 10 rupees (100 notes) is worth 1000 rupees. If you buy such a bundle of new notes from the open market, you have to pay Tk 1,150 to Tk 1,200. That is, buyers have to spend an additional 150-200 rupees per bundle of new notes. Not only 10 taka, but all types of notes have to be paid extra if bought from the open market.

Talking to several buyers and sellers of new notes in Kholabazar, it is known that the price of new notes has increased by Tk 30-100 per bundle compared to last year. Five years ago this price was even lower.

Gulistan new money seller Abbas Ali told Prothom Alo that they are not allowed to enter the banks to collect new money. Still they collect new notes in various ways. He claimed that the prices increased as these notes came into their hands through a few hands.
