Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury has indicated that some Saturday schools may be kept open from the 52 Saturdays (weekends) of next year to avoid controversy over keeping schools open during the holy month of Ramadan. The education minister said this while addressing the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the Ministry of Education at Segunbagicha in the capital on the occasion of the Great Independence Day and National Day.

The education minister said that there has been propaganda about schools being open during the holy month of Ramadan. As the matter has come up this year, plans will be made in the coming days to stop the controversy by keeping schools open on some Saturdays out of the 52 Saturdays of the year.
