Supply of medicine stopped for 5 days in Bhairab, civil surgeon's ultimatum did not work either

It has been learned that civil surgeon Saiful Islam spoke to both sides on the phone yesterday to resolve the conflict between the clinic owner and representatives of the pharmaceutical company. At that time he gave 24 hours time to both sides to resolve the crisis. Bhairab Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Bulbul Ahmed gave the same message on behalf of the Civil Surgeon. But neither side agreed to budge from their positions. Both sides say it's not right to sit together without a clear understanding of what the withdrawal process will be, or the implications of the next period.

The pharmacy staff of the clinic said that there are at least half a hundred private clinics and diagnostic centers in Bhairab. Apart from Bhairab, large parts of Kuliarchar of Kishoreganj, Ashtagram of Haor upazila, Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria, Sarail, Belab of Narsingdi and Raipura upazilas come to Bhairab's clinics to get healthcare. Apart from caesarean section, each clinic performs an average of five surgeries per day. An average of 50 patients receive health care in the outpatient department. Every patient needs a different medicine. Most patients buy medicines from the clinic pharmacy. Due to supply cut off, patients are facing difficulties in getting the necessary medicines. In particular, not all drugs listed in a prescription are available at the same time. The suffering of patients is increasing day by day.
