Sri Lanka has set a target of 511 runs to the Bangladesh team in the Sylhet Test. In the last session of the third day, the Lankans finished the second innings with 418 runs, leading by 510 runs. Mehdi Hasan Miraj took the maximum 4 wickets with 74 runs for Bangladesh.

Like the first innings, Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis also scored centuries in the second innings. The visitors scored 280 runs in the first innings based on the centuries of these two. In response, Bangladesh's first innings stopped at 188 runs.
