Rabeya Sultana Mitu, the wife of Mayor Abbas Ali, who was dismissed on April 2, filed a writ in the High Court against this order. He claimed that he did not submit the nomination form knowing that the election was postponed on February 8. But the returning officer continued the election process till February 20. Although seven other candidates got a chance to be in it, he is being deprived. After hearing this writ on April 2, the High Court directed Mitu to submit the nomination form. As per the directions of the High Court, the Returning Officer gave the nomination form to Mitu's representative on Monday. Seven other candidates are extremely upset by this.

Talking to some people concerned, it is known that after receiving the news of giving the nomination form to Mitu, Katakhali Municipal Awami League President Abu Sama, General Secretary Zahurul Islam, former Municipal Jamaat Ameer Abdul Hai, Mahanagar Jamaat Shura Member Majedul Islam's son Shibir went to the Returning Officer's office to protest. Leader Mizanur Rahman, BNP worker Ziaur Rahman, Sirajul Islam and seven candidates for the post of mayor. They behaved arrogantly and violently with the Returning Officer. The returning officer told them that the nomination form has been given to Mitu on the instructions of the High Court. He has nothing to do. Still, these seven candidates behaved rudely with the returning officer in front of the district election officer. After an hour of shouting they went back.
