Russian intelligence is under question for failing to prevent Moscow's attacks

“Sadly, the world has shown us that no city, no country is completely safe from the threat of terrorism,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday when asked if the attack was proof of Russian intelligence failures. He mentioned that the intelligence agencies are working tirelessly to protect Russia.

However, President Putin's long-standing commitment to the Russian people to ensure stability and security in the country was dealt a major blow by Friday's attack. So far 139 people have died and more than 180 people have been injured in that attack. The attack shocked many residents of the Russian capital, Moscow.

Putin, a former KGB officer who was elected president of Russia for another six years this month, has, however, dealt with such crises before. There is no longer any threat to his power in Russia.
