Removal of coal from a coal-laden cargo ship which sank in Bhairab river of Jessore's Abhaynagar upazila has started. Coal is being lifted from the sunken cargo ship by excavators and loaded onto the bulkhead since Monday morning. Later that coal is being taken to another ghat of Bhairav ​​river in Nawapara.

The cargo master said coal was being unloaded from the ship at low tide. When the tide comes in, the coal has to be stopped.

Earlier last Saturday night in Nawapara area of ​​Abhaynagar upazila, coal-laden MV Sakib Viva-2 cargo ship burst its bottom and sank in Bhairab river. The ship was carrying about 685 metric tons of coal when it sank. The importing company M/s JHM Group imported the coal from Indonesia and brought it to Nawapara of Abhaynagar Upazila.
