Hazrat Mu'adh (RA) said while leaving, 'O Messenger of Allah, make a way for me to enter Jannah. I can be saved from hell.'

Rasulullah (SAW) said, 'Mu'az, you have asked me an important question. But for whomsoever Allah makes it easy, it becomes easy for him. You will never associate anyone with Allah, pray five times, fast in Ramadan, give Zakat and perform Hajj.'

After that Rasulullah (SAW) asked himself, 'Shall I not give you the news of the gates of virtue?' That is why he said, 'Fasting is like a shield (it prevents every danger and punishment). Just as water destroys fire, charity destroys sins. You will wake up at night and pray.'

Saying this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited this verse, 'Say, if you run away for fear of death or being killed, then it is of no use to you and even if you run away, you will be allowed to enjoy your lives. Say, if Allah wishes you harm, who will protect you and if He wishes to favor you, who will deprive you? They will find no protector and helper for themselves except Allah.' (Surah Ahzab, Verses: 16-17)
