Puberty of children with autism

by endroar

Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder. Its main features are inhibition of social interaction, difficulty in communicating with others and repetition of similar behaviors.

A child with autism may have difficulty learning language, be hypersensitive or insensitive to sound or touch, and sometimes have behavioral problems. Many people don't respond when called by name, don't make eye contact. Some may have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or seizures with autism.

Autistic traits can appear at any age in a child's development. But most of the cases are seen around the age of three years. Over time, children with autism also enter puberty. That means they also have to pass the age of 10 to 19 years.
