Fidya is a monetary donation or charity in lieu of fasting. Fidya is the payment of food or its value in lieu of fasting. The fast of one cannot be observed by the other, fidya is not a fast in lieu of fast; Therefore, it is not necessary for the person who is given fidya to fast, such as: a minor, a poor child or an elderly, weak, disabled, sick, helpless poor person who himself is unable to fast.

The amount of fidya for one fast is equal to one fitrah. About the amount of Fitr, there is in Hadith Sharif, 'Sadakatul Fitr is “one sa” (3 kg 300 grams) of food. Abu Saeed Khudri (ra) said, our food was dates, raisins, cheese, barley. (Bukhari, Volume: 1, Pages: 204-205).

Fidya and Sadaqah can also be exacted from goods and can also be exacted from its value. But it is better to earn by what is more beneficial for the recipient.
