Upazila Awami League's former general secretary and possible chairman candidate Parvez Kabir claimed to Prothom Alo, “This time there is no opportunity to hold elections with party symbols from Awami League.” But locally, I have been given support from the district and upazila branches of Awami League. One person from Jamaat has entered the field for election. And four from Awami League. There will be a fight in the field with the Jamaat leader. But when you get on the field, you will understand who's position is there.'

In this regard, Jamaat leader and potential candidate for Upazila Parishad elections, Enamul Haque told Prothom Alo, 'I have been asked to be elected for the post of Upazila Parishad Chairman by the decision of the party's central committee. I started working in the electoral field in an organizational manner from last Wednesday. Ahead of the election, we are getting massive response from the general voters of the area. If the electoral environment is fair and impartial, I will be elected upazila parishad chairman by a wide margin, God willing.'

According to the office of upazila election officer, the total number of voters in Birampur upazila is 1 lakh 49 thousand 347 people. Among them, 74 thousand 548 male voters and 74 thousand 795 female voters. There are 4 Hijra voters. The election will be held on May 8.

According to the announced schedule, April 15 is the last date for submission of nomination papers. April 22 is the last day for withdrawal of candidature. Symbols will be allotted on April 23.

In this regard, Dinajpur district election officer and returning officer Kamrul Islam told Prothom Alo on the phone, “All kinds of initiatives have been taken to make this election free and fair.”
