Mobarak Hossain of Chakadh area of Naria lives with his family in Shyambazar area of Dhaka. He left Sadarghat in Dhaka at one o'clock on Tuesday with his family members and reached Mulfatganj Ghat at six o'clock in the evening. Mubarak said to Prothom Alo, 'Launch is an easy and safe vehicle for us. I arrived at the destination without any fuss and chatted with my family at the launch. Bus costs and hassles are high. So we feel comfortable with the launch by sea.'

Various villages of Jajira, Naria, Vedarganj and Gosairhat upazilas of Shariatpur are situated on the banks of Padma river. All in all the people of the entire district had to use waterways to travel to Dhaka, Narayanganj and Chandpur. After the inauguration of the Padma Bridge in June 2022, passenger traffic on the waterway has reduced significantly. 50-60 launches were plying from Shariatpur's Naria, Jajira, Vedarganj, Damudya, Gosairhat to Dhaka's Sadarghat, Narayanganj and Chandpur. After the launch of Padma Setu, it has reduced to 10-15.

It is known that currently four launches are traveling from Naria Upazila Sadar to Dhaka, two to Narayanganj and two to Chandpur. Two launches from Damudya and Gosairhat are plying at Dhaka's Sadarghat. Launch movement with other upazilas has stopped. It can be said that only the residents of the banks of the Padmar River use the launch for commuting and transportation of goods to Hatbazar in that area.
