Willie Kirk was accused of having an affair with a player. Leicester City has sacked Kirk from the position of coach of the women's team after an internal investigation. The club competing in the women's top league (Women's Super League) in England reported this news yesterday.

Lester announced earlier this month that the girls' team was no longer in Kirk's hands. Leicester said at the time that Kirk was helping with the club's 'internal processes'. At the time, The Athletic reported that Kirk was being investigated for allegedly having an affair with a team player. Leicester then confirmed Kirk's sacking in a statement yesterday, saying: 'Willie has breached the team's code of conduct in accordance with the internal disciplinary process and the club's obligation to respect personal privacy to such an extent that he can no longer be retained in this position (coach).'

Kirk has not been seen in the dugout for Leicester Women's last three matches. BBC Sport did not receive a comment from Kirk about his sacking. Former Everton coach Kirk took over as manager of Leicester's women's team in November 2022. Leicester said Kirk was sacked for breaching the code of conduct 'with effect' before the start of the 2023–24 season.
