According to the BBS, in 2022 the country's under-one-year-old mortality rate was 25 per thousand, which increased to 27 in 2023. Five years ago this number was 21.

On the other hand, the death rate of newborns less than one month has suddenly increased. 20 out of every 1,000 live births die. In 2022 this number was 16. Five years ago it was 15. Apart from this, the death rate of children under five years is 33 per thousand. In 2022 there were 31 people. Five years ago there were even fewer, 28.

Alamgir Hossain, Director of SVRS in Digital Platform Project of BBS, who published the report, said that the reason for the decrease in average life expectancy is that the mortality rate, especially infant mortality, has increased. The incidence of non-communicable diseases has also increased. After 40 years, many people are affected by such diseases. Due to these reasons, the average life expectancy can decrease.

However, Alamgir Hossain thinks that the average life expectancy is statistically unchanged. There is only some numerical difference.
