Anderson, who last played an international match for New Zealand in 2018, broke the world record for the fastest century of 36 balls against the West Indies in 2014, breaking Shahid Afridi's century record of 37 balls. Later, however, AB de Villiers also surpassed Anderson (31-ball century).

Anderson has been living in the United States since 2020 with his wife Mary Margaret. The left-hander, who has played 93 international matches for the Kiwis, is likely to feature in the T20 World Cup squad for the USA and West Indies in June.

Before the World Cup, the United States will play three Twenty20 matches with Bangladesh at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston. The matches will be held on May 21, 23 and 25 respectively.
