On March 5, a meeting was held under the leadership of the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister on the preparations for the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. On March 21, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader held a meeting with concerned government officials and stakeholders regarding Eid preparations. In these meetings, 155 places where traffic jams and homebound people may suffer during Eid are identified. To avoid suffering at these places, emphasis has been laid on the repair of roads and bridges and the management of toll plazas on bridges.

Among the 155 places identified by the government as being prone to traffic jams, 48 places are on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Several U-turns (where vehicles can be turned around) before and after Kanchpur Bridge have been kept in that list.

There are 55 traffic jam-prone spots on the highway from Dhaka to North Bengal. Bypile and Chandra Mor are one of them. There are 41 places on the Dhaka-Sylhet route that may suffer from traffic jams. Four lane work is going on in different places of this highway. As a result, the vehicle will not be able to run at full speed. There are 6 risk areas on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route. 8 congested areas have been identified on the Dhaka-Aricha road.

Toll is collected on 11 bridges and 2 roads on important highways of the country. Traffic jams occur when the toll collection center is pressured by vehicles.

The Ministry of Road Transport has not identified any major obstacles in the movement from Dhaka via Padma Bridge. However, sources in the transport sector say that Syedabad Bus Terminal and Dolairpar Junction on this route have now become a pain point for the people of the southern region. Because, there is traffic jam on the roads centered on Sayedabad. Passengers are picked up by stopping the bus on the road.

Wahiduzzaman goes to Barisal every year through Sayedabad during Eid. He said, it can be seen going to Barisal in six hours. It takes only two hours to reach the highway via Sayedabad and Dolairpar.
