Death of Bangladeshi youth injured in BSF firing, relatives mourn

A Bangladeshi youth died after being fired by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Durgapur border in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat. He died while undergoing treatment under the supervision of BSF in a hospital in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, India at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. His relatives are crying after hearing the news of his death.

The name of the dead youth is Liton Mia (19). He is the son of Mokchedul Haque and Dulali Khatun of Shankarchara Mohalla of Dighaltari village of Durgapur upazila. He was injured in BSF firing on Durgapur border around 3 pm last Monday.

Lt. Col. Mofazzal Hossain, the commander of Lalmonirhat-15 BGB Battalion, wrote a letter to the BSF after the BSF firing on the border. Mofazzal Hossain Akand, citing the Jalpaiguri-75 BSF battalion of West Bengal, India, said on Wednesday that Liton Mia's body will be handed over to the BGB by the BSF any time after the post-mortem.
