Government agencies above townships have been told to add 'secure and reliable' processors and operating systems to the shopping list.

Last December, China's Ministry of Industry published three lists in an announcement. The list names 'safe and reliable' CPUs, operating systems and central databases. All of these are Chinese companies, Reuters checked. It was reported that the list will be effective for three years from December.

The State Council Information Office handles all media-related inquiries of the Chinese cabinet. Reuters contacted the office for comment but did not receive a response. Intel and AMD did not respond to requests for comment.
