CDA has written to the Railways on March 25 seeking 14th century land for construction of ramp from Tigerpass to Pologround. There are trees in this place. The letter signed by CDA Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams said that the construction of the main part of the elevated expressway is in its final stage. And the contractor has been appointed for the construction of the ramp. Pologround Road – Adjacent 14th century site use permission required.

CDA's project director Md confirmed the construction of ramp by cutting trees. Mahfuzur Rahman. He told Prothom Alo, there is no alternative place to ramp except this part of Tigerpass. To make a ramp here, trees have to be cut. However, he tried to prevent the big trees from being cut down. Even then one or two may be cut. Forest department permission has been taken for felling of trees.

According to the policy, action will be taken regarding permission to use the land, said Sujan Chowdhury, chief land officer of the eastern region of the railway. He told Prothom Alo, 'CDA took us to inspect the place. Then, considering the environment, I personally request you to consider whether there is an opportunity to do it somewhere else instead of lowering the ramp here. Then they said that they designed this place. There is no opportunity to download anywhere else. Still I requested to revise the design.'

Questioning the need for a ramp at this place, former chairman of the Chittagong Center of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Delwar Majumdar told Prothom Alo that this double-decker road is unique for the city. It has aesthetic and historical importance. The trees on this road are very old. Trees of this age are now far away from Chittagong, not even in Bangladesh. The elevated expressway has access from GEC junction and Agrabad. Hence there was no need to construct the ramp at Tigerpass between these two places. Maybe they are building this ramp in the hope of getting more tolls. The way the dream and comfort places of the city people are being destroyed is a crime.
