BUET cannot be made an arena of militancy: Foreign Minister

by endroar

He said this at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club on Topkhana Road in the capital on Monday afternoon. On the occasion of the 56th anniversary of Bangladesh Film Journalists Association (Bachsas), State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Member of Parliament Ferdous Ahmed gave speeches as special guests in the discussion titled 'Smart Bangladesh of Liberation War'.

Hasan Mahmud said that there was always student politics in BUET. Many elite politicians of the country have passed out from BUET. But one group boycotted the election and later looked at foreigners' faces to see if anything happened. But as world leaders congratulated the Prime Minister, their hopes were not fulfilled. They are the ones who want to depoliticize the entire country by depoliticizing Buet.

There has been an incident where a BUET student was expelled from the campus for doing politics outside the campus — what kind of decision is this, the minister said. He said, 'I respect the movement of ordinary students in BUET. But it is feared that a class may turn BUET into an arena of militancy by taking advantage of the movement of ordinary students. This cannot be accepted at all. It is also necessary to see whether militancy has entered Buet or not.'
