BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that nearly 80 percent of BNP's 'members-workers' (leaders-workers) have been subjected to repression and torture by the government during the democratic movement. He said that Chhatra Dal-Zubadal leaders and workers were brutally physically tortured. Some had their toenails removed, some had their legs twisted and broken, some had their arms broken.

Mirza Fakhrul said these things in a function organized with the family members of the leaders and activists who were victims of disappearance, murder and persecution in the past movement at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan of the capital on Thursday afternoon. An organization named 'Amra BNP Parivar' organized the event.

Mirza Fakhrul said, 'They (the government) did not spare not only BNP members, but even their wives, sisters, parents.'
