The study also found that 28 percent of students who are unemployed have studied some subject. It can be seen that most of those who are unemployed are BA (pass) degree holders. Apart from this, the unemployment rate is relatively high among students studying political science, library management, Bengali, Islamic history and culture. According to research data, 42 percent of students who pass out from national universities are employed. In addition, 16 percent are self-employed and over 13 percent work part-time.

Most of those engaged in salaried and waged work are in education-related occupations. Basically they are working as teachers in various schools, colleges, coaching centers. Many who pass out from national universities are also going to lower ranks in the readymade garment sector. Many are also involved in the agricultural sector.

Almost two-thirds of the students in higher education in the country study in national universities. The study also explored why a large portion of these university graduates are still unable to enter the job market.
